Occasional Invaders

Occasional invaders include any insects that enter homes or buildings seasonally. These insects are motivated to invade and search for food, water, or shelter from extreme heat or cold. In Missouri, occasional invaders include well-known insects such as centipedes, silverfish and ladybugs, as well as lesser-known insects like the box elder bug, cluster flies, and clover mites. The best way to protect your home from occasional invaders year-round is by sealing your exterior walls completely, as this will block all entry points. Cleaning up debris around the exterior of your house will also get rid of hiding spots for these pests. Occasional invaders are also less likely to stick around in a well-ventilated home, making proper ventilation a great prevention method.
